I found a recipe over at Farmgirl Gourmet, but I tweaked it a bit as I don't like too much spice in mine.
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef
2 1/2 cups milk
1 1/2 cups hot water
2 cups macaroni (whichever style you choose)
1 T cornstarch
1 T chili powder
2 t garlic powder
1 t sugar
1 t salt
1/4 t paprika
pinch of red pepper flakes
2 1/4 cups shredded cheese
Brown and drain ground beef.
Add in pasta, milk, hot water and spices.
Chili powder, cornstarch, garlic powder, sugar, salt, paprika and crushed red pepper. |
Stir, and bring to a boil. Cover and let it simmer for approximately 10-12 minutes (until pasta is al dente).
If it looks like it's getting too dry, add some milk.
Add your shredded cheese, stir and dinner is served!

OK, I'll admit I loved hamburger helper as a kid, but I don't like all the chemicals as an adult. Great healthy version, so glad you brought it to foodie friday.
